I had planned to have part 2 of my last blog written and published within a week, but it’s been nearly 4 months to the day. This writing warranted more care than I had anticipated & was something I knew I could not publish until each part of it rang true in my heart & spirit beyond a shadow of doubt. Though the text content happened 42 years ago, I can still see it in my minds’ eye like it was yesterday. Spiritual Warfare is not something that I have ever taken lightly. Though its realm is invisible most of the time, its presence can be felt. In this unseen realm, there is good and there is evil; it is black, or it is white– no gray areas exit. It’s a place where the angels of God and the fallen angels and demons of Satan war for the souls of mankind. It is talked about throughout the entire Word of God. Like war in the physical realm, where there is a hierarchical organization of units, from small squads to larger formations like brigades and divisions...

As I ponder the years behind me, my heart is marbled with wonder, awe, joy and an un-ending depth of reverence for God. He, the Creator of all, and Lover of every soul, called my name and allowed my heart to hear. And then it was up to me to either open my heart to Him, or turn away. I’m so thankful now and every day since, that I didn’t ignore His call. To pick up from where I left off in Blog #3, there’s a Bible verse that encapsulates the new life that Garth and I found, once we surrendered our hearts to Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Our mindsets were definitely changed. What we ‘wanted to do now’ and what we ‘used to do’ couldn’t be compared to separate chapters in a book– we were a new Script entirely! Of course, there were some cling-on’s from our BC days (cling-on’s being a sin that tenaciously hangs on, and BC meaning ‘before Christ.’)...

Matthew 19:26 But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” I asked Jesus to come into my heart at age12. Garth accepted Him at 22. His family of origin was divorce and drunkenness, mine was mental illness. Not that unusual really, when you peak under the covers of most heathen families. But God was good even then, because He planted our heathen families next door to the godly, and unknown to us as children, the godly prayed. As newlyweds, we had fire insurance– just enough Jesus to keep us out of hell should we die. But neither of us knew that unless Jesus was first, the hell that couldn’t touch us after death, would surely seek to destroy our lives before death. At 3.5 years of marriage, we separated. The baggage we had carried into this relationship was insurmountable, and we were each overwhelmed with the pain and emotions that follow problems with no solutions. Our world was what we could see...

Words are powerful! The Bible says, ‘From the fruit of our lips, a man enjoys good things.’ (Proverbs 13:2) In this story, you’ll find two young adults who spoke out what God had put on their hearts and would later come to pass. They had no idea, at the time, what the other had spoken, for either were barely acquainted; they just knew of one another. The year was 1976, and Spring was just pushing itself forward in the small coastal town of Gold Beach. Its borders nestled up against the mountains of the Oregon Coast Range, and the mouth of the famous Rogue River opened wide to the mighty Pacific Ocean. In beauty– this place was truly breathtaking. Garth was 22 and worked at the Mobile gas station. It was located on the north end of town. Across the street sat the legendary ‘Sunset Inn’ with an expanded parking lot that provided a turnaround for all the teen-agers who drove up and down main street daily and into the night for something to do. To this ...

Today is the day I write my first blog! To be honest, I've never given too much thought to blogs, until I started reading the blogs posted on my Pastor's Facebook page. Like his teachings, I found 1 part common sense (God-given), mixed with two parts of maturity (obtained from a life of 70 years plus, & well lived), one part humility (unafraid to share a setback), & two parts of godly confidence, which I admire greatly. Sharing the Word of God & the blessings it can bring is the best news, & I hope that much of what I blog here will be a blessing to you as well. Where do I start? Well, I love to tell stories... true ones of course, & my grandchildren can certainly attest to that! But doesn't the Bible say that that is the foundation of 'Grandparenting'?? It does:-)!! Of course we are to te...
